You no longer need to black glue for pipe boots, they are taped, so worse case scenario, patch the slice going into the pipe (if their is one) prime the epdm, slide down pipe boot, peel tape backing, press in, roll, caulk top, clamp!

Vaa, you can be both big and good you know. SOme thing it is either or, it doesn't have to be.>>>

It is really clear the guys pushing the "torchdown" havent a real clue to the "NEW" way of flashing bonding or caulking. You use boots on pipes that are peel and stick (already have sealant) Stripping in the metal trim also is a peel and stick with sealant. You can also use flashings on the corners with sealant. All this making rubber roofing ALOT faster than torch-on. Once again any one who thinks torch on is faster must be a GOOFER not a roofer.>>>

after re-reading the original post.... for a 10 sq. rental property tying into a shingle job, I would have probably gone with a 3 ply SA mineral surfaced. color to match the shingle job.....and question why the existing failed.

wide open, apples for apples....base sheets and rigid all in place..... rubber is definitely quicker....spray and play..... cut up pig?......I'll take my chances with the Modified torched down......

Ask me to guarantee it with my life.....3 ply pitch and copper >>>

"Vaa"

15 years and you still havent tried them ????????????? If you did give them a try there is no way you would compare flashing a rubber roof and a torch-on roof. You ask "brand names" alot are you a salesmen??????

"Buildrr" I have to agree 3ply T&G is the best roof. R u from Boston ?>>>

Agree with Mac on this one. It wasn't a real roof until the 4th ply went down.>>>

Vaa, I guess the saying is correct old dogs like you can't learn new tricks! You traveled the world, Like a roofing Caine, installing every type of system known. But yet you have seemingly ended up just a lonely one man, truck conglomerate (except when you have a "big" job, then you hang out at the local Junior high and get some talent)

I think the only thing you have learned in your 60 plus years is how to insult, and put down. Try and stay on topic in the future, if you can control yourself.>>>

Mac, I couldn't help but notice that when Vaa gets your blood boiling, you start using ALL the vowels and even punctuation. If Vaa keeps tweaking you like this, you'll be sending Bill O'rielly new words to use. ;)>>>

Mac attack :silly: :silly: :silly: :S The best part is looking from outside looking in on this issue . It is great for this forum and fun when a real professional VAA with the experience of doing the job done above and beyond right... craftsmen of days gone by level on the level. When the sparks start flying , of which I know about it raises the interest . Vaa being the Norm Abrams image Yankee Workshop to me . Up against the Sears Home Depot Lowes big box store image of Mac and others. That is where the argument heads when it becomes flaming I for one love it. Bring it.Mac has a tendency to over berate and the reason he has been tossed more than once. No Brakes on the orifice , ( pie hole ) :woohoo:>>>

He sure has got u fooled! Those are your perceptions, hold on to them dear, so you justify your position.

I am anything but a big box store, quality is our hallmark, but should I take a hit for also marrying that with qauntity? MY proof is spread out on buildings all over the Northeast. And in the countless awards and recognitions.

The cry of the one man show has always been "I'M about qaulity, I am not the biggest, I am the best" For the most part that is just self justification for your station in life. Some of us strive for more.

How do u know he is a craftsman?? Really? How? because he says so? Because he takes a cple pics? Do not let your desire to believe something alter the reality.

Dumbed down?? Or an evolution of what was? I see nothing wrong with improvements, that is what should be strived for in all aspects of life.

Tape has been around longer than 8 yrs Vaa.>>>
