Welcome Back Peter
« Back To Roofers TalkTo Roofing and RCS? Or just the RCS? Welcome back Matey. Or whatever you Irish say>>>
Yeah Peter, we missed you. I did see one of your posts about a dome roof in the Slate roofers forum!>>>
Hi Twill, Old School,
Sad to say I'm not back roofing although once a roofer always a roofer, lately I found myself designing brackets and methods for installing solar panels, of course this moved on to actually fitting them.
So I'm on a roof with my trusty old "Brades" slate ripper enjoying myself fitting my custom brackets when I realised nobody would really appreciate the detailing except another roofer, so I said to myself "Self you have to make time for the RCS".
I reckon Old School may appreciate this more as you are a slater, I managed to buy 2 "never used" Brades Rippers made in Sheffield back around 1870 (that is when the factory closed).
They are the slimmest most flexible one piece rippers ever made in the UK, so I thought if I own three of these beauties it might qualify me to post in here again :)
Joe Jenkins was very pleased with the details about the slated dome, I'm not sure if he used the photos I sent, if I memory serves you had a hand in that article yourself Old School.
Sad to say I'm in this renewable energy biz a bit too deep to walk away, however I'm still a practicing roofer in my spare time ;)
Thanks for the welcome gents.

Hi Mike,
You are spot on heating water is all that concerns the panel installer, they believe that silicone will last for 20 years and more, nothing about the unprotected steel edges sitting on the membranes either, one guy I challenged about it said it's only 15 kilos (30 pounds) :)
As I can fit and remove the panels from a plumbing point of view and after seeing the above I decided to register the web name solar repairs .com, all those nice little leaks will make for a very manageable days work to repair and the pay should be at least double ;)
Well we all have our dreams :)>>>
Hey Peter. I typed one reply and the computer deleted it for me. Shoot! I posted a reply on Slateroofcentral about a domed metal roof you did a while back. I think it was about a year ago, but I only saw it about 3 weeks ago. Did you send the pics of the curved slate roofs on the cones that Joe used on my article? Very nice. Good to see that you are still working on roofs in some manner anyway. Glad to have your input back here. A lot of the old guys are back on now. It is a lot of fun. I am still "Old School">>>
'owaya peter, it's gran' ter clap yer back blatherin' aboyt roofs if not actually doin' dem. Oi trust dat de pellet burner business is keepin' yer on yisser indian joes an' oyt av trouble. I've been reminded often de past year aboyt de article on "peak oil" dat yer sent me a couple years ago. Prophet Peter, 'as a bit av a rin' ter it, don't yer tink? I like this format reminds of the original ;)>>>
Yeah but you never used to use the smileys and where's the blue van? Don't worry, I have it saved on my external hard drive along with a few other notables and daddybob's lesson on soldering and a few other timeless unimprovable originals.>>>

Cockneys have their own dialect and I was just practicing....... a shot across the bows you might say......... an indication of what to expect when pissing on someones heritage. >>>
