Terry's thread about the inspector wanting the gutters pitched got me wondering about the practice. Around here, it is extremely rare to see a gutter pitched to the downspout. In fact, the most common gutter installation method with a tile roof here is>>>

That's odd....I got tired of the boys not installing the gutter correctly, not pitching it, leaving out the straps, using drive pins against copper, etc. Now I use an old boy called Elmer, he's got all his own chit and an enclosed trailer so it's just>>>

We pitch the gutters.

If it did not freeze we would put less pitch to the gutters.

Dead level is okay. Water will push to the outlet.>>>

Pitched here. Having positive flow will help move some debris out. When pitched gutters clog, most of the leaves are over the outlet. Unpitched seem to completely end to end and pack solid.>>>

the description that you gave about the metal on the back of the gutter bending under the roof tiles, is possibly the Alcoa Roof apron, and it's true that you cannot re-direct the gutter as it hangs in that apron.....there is another product called a fas>>>

when we fabricate and install copper gutters on some projects....the pitch of the gutter is built in to the body of the gutter, and the front hem and rear fold were consistent and straight. The pitch was in the round, and the bar was straight.>>>
