Nothing to say?
« Back To Roofers TalkI find it hard to believe nothing is being said reagarding our current state of politics. I have known this site to quite mouthy with both the peacemakers and loud mouths,,,,,,,,,,silence doesn't fit any of you. With that said, I am bipartisan although I am a registered Democrat, it means nothing to me. I live in PA and our primaries are a joke, Independants can't vote so I had to choose one or the other, D came before R in the alphabet so here I be. My concern is all that goes on behind the scene, all the wheeling and dealing and Pork Bellies. we as a country are being appeased by these professionals. We certainly have our right to vote but it only decides whom the President will be, after that our say means squat. We vote, we take sides, we argue and THEY the 435 people make decisions that affect millions, they know we will make noise but also know our griping will subside.
The best way to explain it Patty: The majority of the population believes that the benefits of American socialism should only be granted to a minority of the population.
I have lost faith in the American voter. We are – as Alexander Tytler said – at the precipice of collapse where politicians have handed out largess from the national treasury to purchase votes and power. It’s as though the thief who broke into your house and stole your TV cash and gold, has used that booty to build a business and you now work for him. Fox in charge of the henhouse.
The black youth are the biggest victim of this political-greediness. A whole generation has been raised to think that all of their problems in life are caused by whitey trying to keep them down. I give you Black Lives Matter! Of course they are pissed off, you’d be pissed off too if by-and-large you were an uneducated block who’re constantly told you don’t matter to whitey.
People don’t want to see the obvious because it gives them a feeling of prejudice, but it’s all around us. You’ve seen the YouTube videos of brawls at IHOP, at brawls in the streets of the ‘hood, of mass overwhelming of a convenience store to trash it and steal everything not tied down. 99% of the time it is blacks! You don’t have to admit it to me, but you know it deep down inside.
Our society has invested in laziness and greed and we are reaping what we’ve sown.
And you want me to give up my guns? Not happening!
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have a newborn grandaughter in the house, need I say more.
I agree with the greed. I do not associate wealth with greed but there are those that are never satisfied and never happy. What I live on in a year they can spend in a day. I'm the better for it. When the greed comes into our politics and governing between each other and globally, it scares me.
As for the Black issues in our country today, that is scary also. I spent my teen years in NYC through the 60's, the young black men were down trodden then. The gangs were known, it was fighting not shooting as it is today. I'm outside Harrisburg, it's not different from NYC just smaller. We have the "bad" sections of town like everyone else. I'm glad to say a lot more intergrated since I arrived here '74. The Susquehanna River (another towns railroad track) separated the East shore from the White shore (West). I don't have an answer, I just have the awareness. We also have a lot of Mexicans in our part of PA , we have many orchards and communities have developed. I never hear about them in the news, it is a rarity. Your response will probably be...too busy working? Yes.
"Our society has invested in laziness and greed and we are reaping what we’ve sown."
Too broad a statement for me, I get what you are trying to say, too much lumped together.
As for your guns, your safe.
When an electorate elects John Conyers, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Maxine Waters, Fredrica Wilson, Anthony Weiner, it is afflicted with greed and laziness. Our political leaders are the least respected in just about any industry.

the system is rigged against the blacks.

Wait, what??? Since black kids are more likely to go to jail, therefor they are being picked on? I don't think that's what that stat means. I think it points back to just what I said, that blacks lack good leadership and role models and lash out because they've been brainwashed to believe that whitey won't give them a chance.
Alba, that anyone could actually think Obama is classy, is funny as hell!!! The guy is gutter trash! The worst president in the history of our nation. By contrast, Trump just did what no president in 70-years could do: moving the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. That's big!
The fact that people who can vote, elect people like Obama, is why this nation is in such terrible shape!
Just for the record, I side with Alba one hundred per cent. Those two pictures portray the split very clearly. Donald Trump is a truly loathsome creature. There's my two cents and that's all I have to say on the subject. Over and out. Best luck to all.

Trump is abrasive, impetuous and annoying. He also has done more good for this nation in less than a year than that clown Obama did in 8 years. Obama was a negative value.

In spite of vicious opposition Trump has given us a faster climbing stock market and employment numbers than Hussien Obama ever did. Trump probably has given us the first significant tax break in 70 years. He has eliminate 3900 regulations, Obama exploded them.
Trump is making America great again, and that loser Obama is travelling the world undermining him.
When Obama took over ,the country was on the brink of destruction .there were 2 wars going on, sucking hundreds of millions of US$ and Osama bin ladin was still at large. unemployment was at 10% ,housing , auto , banking ,auto industries were in shambles .dow jones had crashed to 6000.When he left Bin ladin had been killed .2 wars were closed out.unemployement was at 4%.economy was expanding the dow jones hit 18000.the country is still running on his budget .To say that he was a negative value is an utter ignorant nonsense .
Are you serious? Obama's ROE hampered efforts to get bin Laden. His time just ran out and Obama happened yo be in office. Yes, he closed out Iraq...too early and we had yo go back in. He has much blood on his hands.
The clown was elected because he's black. Period. You voted for him because he's black. Period.

Retired after 42 years in trade and 36 as biz owner ..... Sold company and moved south, lovin’ it!
You voted for him because he’s black. Period.
You hate him because he's black.Period.
Why anyone would want to be President of the USA is beyond me, they already know the shenanigins that have to be dealt with and choose to do so anyway. They know this because the have been within the system long enough to even be considered never mind elected. Yes we have had great Presidents and certainly a few that proved to be inadequate. Each Presidency has had it's trials and tribulations some self inflicted and others inherited. It is all blended. One administration affects the next which makes me wonder, forward to 2020. Who would want to come in after Mr. Trump? Is he setting a new precedent of style and attitude? We have one more year of relief before the race starts, this should prove to be interesting.
Roofguy, just can't agree with you on everything. My personal opinion of Trump does not compare with yours. He must be commended on finding his base group. As limited as it is, it is a strong group and he will play that to the max. For those of us that are not blinded by his concern for our welfare, we are watching out for ourselves.
Why does everyone want to chose a side, today we need to be thinking collectively. Take the republican, democrat, independent, conservative, left, right, social, radical, evangelist, wall street etc., out of it. What would you like, want or need the goverment to do. Referendums should be more frequent in all states, that would bring pulic opinion to the forefront, not necessarily what politicians want to hear, it may not fit their agenda. We must remember WE THE PEOPLE should be their agenda, not the big check, house, planes, cars, recognition and freebies, attractive freebies with an expected price of selling your soul...
