Eco-friendly?

The winner has to be the cedar shake tear off, replace with shakes job we did a month ago. Shakes were torn off and then the homeowner chipped them up into mulch. He did the same thing 35 years ago with the previous roof.

As far as green roof, asphalt shingles are recycled in my area...

Metal roofs are a environmentally conscious choice as they reflective heat of a home reducing cooling bills, they are usually made of 65% recycled material, and they can be layered over other roof material so you don't have to throw away excess material. I know more people are asking San Jose roofing contractors to put these up for these many benefits.

The Decra "Stone Coated Steel Roofing system" also is installed over other roof materials, it gives the owner the option of a shake, shingle, tile and the villa tile look -vs- the commercial look ie: r-panel, s panel or standing seam.

 omg, just read it again and yes a metal roof.....nvm B)

Go Tropical

glassemulsion Said: Im talking from the material mfg. To the finished product.

Well I can say that Tropical does not make roofing systems. However, we do make maintenance, repair and restoration materials that are applied over existing roof systems. In our line of materials, the water based products are the most eco-friendly.

We have a full line of water based white elastomeric coatings and mastics as well as water based asphalt emulsions. Emulsions are used to actually restore asphalt based roofing systems and the white coatings simply preserve the system. For single-ply and metal roof systems, the elastomerics do a great job preserving and extending the roof life cycle.
