Oak shakes has anyone heard of or installed them/

I doubt if there is a real benefit over cedar. In pioneer days Oak would have been readily available and therefore used as shingles when little else could be had.>>>

The tower in Greenbush (Scituate) MA was resided with cypress shingles.... now those were some tough things to cut with a stanley knife.>>>

I've installed Oak Shakes. They go on differently then Cedar. We torch them down.>>>

Do oak shakes exist as a viable roofing covering? This is the question that I posed on various search engines, most notably, GOOGLE, in a valiant attempt to find an answer to this simple question. The answer, as far as I could determine, is that there is no current existence of an oak shake currently being used as a viable roof covering in this nation.>>>
